The WV Hive Network, in partnership with WVU Tech Launch Lab, is excited to announce the return of Pitch Southern West Virginia, a business idea competition encompassing twelve counties in southern West Virginia. The upcoming competition, to be held at WVU Tech in Beckley, WV, is for residents or businesses located in Raleigh, Fayette, Nicholas, Summers, Braxton, Webster, Pocahontas, Greenbrier, Monroe, Mercer, Wyoming, and McDowell Counties and WVU Tech students. The deadline to apply is midnight, August 15, 2022.

Please note: ONLY those with new business ideas or new business start-ups less than three years in operation are eligible to apply. You DO NOT need to be a WV Hive client to apply.

Applications will be evaluated by a team of reviewers, with the top applicants chosen to pitch their unique idea or product in-person at WVU Tech in Beckley, WV on September 13, 2022.

To be considered, please fill out and submit the application no later than midnight August 15, 2022. If your idea or product is chosen as one of the six top applicants, you will be provided additional details and coaching by the WV Hive on how to create a pitch presentation for your idea or product.

During the competition, you will have five minutes to present your idea or product to a panel of judges and explain what is innovative about your business idea and how it will make a difference to residents of southern West Virginia.

Your presentation will be followed with a brief question and answer period with the judges.

A grand prize winner will be awarded $2,000 to use towards growing their idea or product into a business. Second and third place winners will receive smaller awards. An additional prize package of technical assistance, customized to business needs, awarded to the entrepreneur with the best STEM-focused (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) business idea.*
