WV Hive Network Announces New Team Members
The New River Gorge Regional Development Authority (NRGRDA) is pleased to be adding three new members to its WV Hive Network team: Ken Lilly, Melissa Hill, and Sarah Campbell.
The WV Hive Network is an initiative of the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority, working to champion an entrepreneurial culture in southern West Virginia. Based on the WVU Tech campus in Beckley, WV, with satellite offices throughout the area, the WV Hive provides services to grow new and existing businesses in a 12-county region of southern West Virginia.
Ken Lilly is joining the Hive team as a business advisor. Ken has a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian Bible College and an Executive Master’s of Business Administration from West Virginia University. He has 14 years of experience at United Bank wherehe was recognized by Small Business Administration for personally generating the second most SBA loans in the state while he was responsible for commercial loans, and 19 years of experience as Chief Financial Officer at Appalachian Bible College. Ken is excited to work with business owners and help them accomplish their desired goals.
Melissa Hill is also joining the Hive team as a business advisor. Melissa has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration – Marketing from West Virginia State University, and a Master of Science Degree in Adult Education – Training and Development, from Marshall University. Melissa herself is a small business owner with 30 years of experience in business operations, consulting and contract management. She enjoys helping people discover, plan and overcome barriers to become successful in their startups. With her experience, Melissa will be able to assist new business owners in every stage of their business development.
Sarah Campbell is joining the Hive team as an AmeriCorps VISTA Outreach Assistant. Sarah is a May 2017 graduate of West Virginia University with a Regents Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. As a Beckley native, Sarah says she’s excited to serve in her hometown. At the Hive, Sarah will assist in marketing and communication efforts, community outreach efforts, and event production and attendee engagement.
“It’s very exciting to start 2018 by adding three new team members,” said Judy Moore, director of the Hive. “Ken and Melissa will provide one-on-one support to entrepreneurs and small businesses, while Sarah will be based at the Beckley Hive and will focus her support on the Hive team, primarily working on the conduct of events and training. They arejoining Ruthana Beezley, our senior business advisor.”
The WV Hive provides free services to entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout its service area in southern West Virginia. These services include one-on-one business advising, technical assistance funding, start-up education, social enterprise guidance, as well as access to software and equipment which are often inaccessible to start-ups in the region.
