The Redevelopment Coordinator will support development and redevelopment, reuse, and remediation focused projects and visioning as part of the Community Asset Assistance (CAA) department. The Community Asset Assistance (CAA) department will identify and overcome barriers to the optimal utilization of existing assets; in outdoor recreation, the natural environment, and on Main Streets. The department will foster new asset development, improve the quality of life for locals, and make communities attractive for the workforces of industries looking to expand or relocate.

Summary

A successful candidate for a Redevelopment Coordinator role at the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority will possess strong project management skills, with a focus on strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. Additionally, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, alongside a deep understanding of economic development principles and community engagement strategies, are essential for driving successful outcomes in this role.

Primary Responsibilities

Redevelopment/reuse/remediation focused project management

  • Coordinate and manage project plans for the remediation and redevelopment of underutilized properties, focusing on environmental sustainability and community benefit.
  • Coordinate with environmental experts and local authorities to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and best practices in remediation efforts.
  • Work alongside CAA team to manage timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for multiple redevelopment projects, ensuring they align with the NRGRDA’s strategic goals and community needs.
  • Manage project-related paperwork by ensuring all necessary materials are current, and properly filed.
  • Maintain and monitor project-related plans, schedules, work hours, and budgets.
  • Prepare necessary materials for meetings.
  • Document and follow-up on important actions/decisions from meetings
  • Share relevant documentation and reports with project team via Slack and other NRGRDA systems.


Community outreach

  • Work alongside CAA team to develop and execute outreach strategies to engage community members and stakeholders in the planning and implementation of development projects, ensuring transparency and inclusivity.
  • Organize public forums, workshops, and meetings to gather community input, disseminate project information, and address concerns related to development activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, municipal and county staff, businesses, and residents to foster a collaborative environment for economic and community development.


New River Gorge Asset Inventory

  • Conduct comprehensive surveys and research to identify and catalog key assets within the New River Gorge region, including natural, recreational, and cultural resources.
  • Provide requests and related information to GIS staff to support mapping projects related to redevelopment needs
  • Utilize GIS and other mapping tools to create a dynamic inventory of assets that can be easily accessed by stakeholders for planning and development purposes.
  • Regularly update the asset inventory to reflect changes, new developments, and opportunities within the region, ensuring it serves as a reliable resource for development planning.
  • Coordinate integration of asset inventory into NRGRDA tools and resources including comprehensive report summarizing the findings of the asset inventory, including detailed descriptions of each asset, their significance, and potential ways to leverage them for community betterment.


Last Mile Implementation

  • Facilitate the final stages of project delivery, focusing on the resolution of logistical, regulatory, and community-related challenges to ensure successful completion.
  • Coordinate with utility companies, transportation authorities, and other service providers to ensure infrastructure needs are met for new developments and redevelopments.
  • Implement a feedback loop with stakeholders to assess project impact, effectiveness, and areas for improvement post-completion.


Project Identification

  • Analyze regional data, trends, and community feedback to identify potential projects that will enhance economic development and improve quality of life.
  • Work closely with the CAA department to pinpoint opportunities for leveraging existing assets for new development projects that align with local comprehensive plans and the NRGRDA’s strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with experts in various fields including economic development, urban planning, and environmental sciences to identify innovative and sustainable project opportunities, and potential funding sources.


Impact Tracking

  • Work alongside all NRGRDA staff to develop and implement tools and methodologies for measuring the social, economic, and environmental impacts of redevelopment and development projects within the community.
  • Provide data on internal metrics each week.
  • Monitor progress against project milestones and adjust project strategies based on data-driven insights and outcomes.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate the impact of development projects to NRGRDA leadership, stakeholders, and the community, highlighting successes, challenges, and lessons learned.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in economic development, public or business administration, management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in economic or community development planning, project management, community organizing, or a similar leadership role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills to effectively lead and motivate a team.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities for departmental growth and improvement.
  • Knowledge of business process optimization and efficiency improvement techniques.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for data analysis and resource planning.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for regional travel.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Full-time, salaried position.
  • Compensation: $42,000 based on experience and qualifications.
